SCAM ALERT - IRS DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY LETTER

If you receive a letter from the IRS Department of the Treasury stating "We couldn't direct deposit your 2025 Form 1040 refund," It could be a scam to get your bank account information.  The letter includes a "What you need to do" section with a QR code - this office recommends that you DO NOT use the QR code to access the IRS website to change your bank account information and do not call any of the phone numbers provided in the letter.  Per the IRS you can only update your bank account by accessing your online account; IRS employees cannot update bank account information.
