SCAM ALERT

The Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office has been made aware of a scam e-mail purporting to have been sent by the Leavenworth Planning and Zoning Commission.  This e-mail is written better than most of the scam e-mails we have seen in the past and reads very convincingly.  It asks the recipient (victim) to send a large sum of money as a "County Compensation Fee", with a PDF invoice attached to the e-mail.

One quick way to check the validity of an e-mail is to look at the sender's e-mail address.  Official Leavenworth County e-mails will be sent from a @leavenworthcounty.gov address.  If you have any questions about the validity of any communication from a Leavenworth County Government Office, visit www.leavenworthcounty.gov.  This is the official Leavenworth County Government website.  On this website, you can find the official Leavenworth County Government Departments phone numbers.  Feel free to call the department you have questions for, to verify if an e-mail is legitimate or not.
