Thank you to all who supported or participated in this years Torch Run to support the Special Olympics!

We had another great turnout this year, raising $1170.00 for the cause from T-shirt sales. Approximately 30 runners from The Sheriff's Office, Emergency Management, Leavenworth Police, Lansing Police, friends from Fort Leavenworth, and athletes from the local Special Olympics organization participated.   The Council on Aging was generous enough to offer up a shuttle bus that was utilized to pick up and transport participants. Additionally, there were numerous volunteers from all of the agencies as well as community citizens that helped with traffic control and water stations along the route. Beverages and snacks were donated by The Faded Belle, a very supportive local business. We had a great crowd and a safe run.

This was truly a team effort from everyone involved, our staff were honored to be a part of it. All of the athletes that participated were extremely happy to have a great send-off before heading to the state Special Olympics.

We look forward to next year and the opportunity to grow our turnout and raise additional funding for this wonderful cause.
