LEAVENWORTH COURTHOUSE SECURITY UPDATE

03/23/2021

Security and screening measures are being enacted at the Leavenworth County Courthouse March 24, 2021 to ensure the safety off all visitors.  Visitor screening is available at both the South entrance and lower West (ADA Accessible) entrance of the Courthouse; all other entrances will be locked to visitor entrance and will be designated for egress only.

The Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office will provide uniformed staff at both accessible entrances and visitors will undergo the same level of security screening which has been in place at the Justice Center for many years.  All visitors will be asked to place the contents of their pockets in to a bowl prior to proceeding through the metal detector; all bags, briefcases, etc. will be screened with an x-ray machine.  In order to expedite the process at each entry please limit personal belongings to only those needed to conduct personal business.

As a reminder - the personal carrying of any weapon in to the courthouse, including pocket knives, is prohibited.  Your patience and understanding as we undertake this new responsibility is greatly appreciated.
